description

WIPAC will be participating in the 2018 Science Expeditions, a family friendly, campus-wide open house running April 6-8, 2018. We will have an exploration station on Saturday April at Discovery building and will be presenting planetarium shows and "Chasing the Ghost Particle" at Sterling Hall from 11:00am-3:00pm (4 shows, 1 every hour)

Experience the world of the neutrino, often called the weirdest particle in nature. Learn about the unique properties of the so called ghost particle that can pass through the Earth undeflected, and exist in three identities at the same time. Learn about how despite being born with a single identity, they can mutate into another neutrino identity when they are detected by experiments such as IceCube, the cubic-kilometer neutrino detector at the South Pole. From 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 7, in the Discovery Building, 330 N. Orchard St.

Come join the fun! For more information about the campus-wide open house, visit the Science Expeditions website
